Oven-Roasted Tri Tip
- Take your tri tip and set it on a large cookie sheet.
- Pour olive oil onto the tri tip, and generously rub the outside of the meat with salt and pepper. Cover it completely.
- Add garlic and onion and any other herb you would enjoy as well.
- Turn your oven to 350 and put the tri tip in.
- Using a meat thermometer, monitor the internal temperature of the tri tip. When it reaches around 135 F, it will be medium. (This is the ideal doneness for this cut of meat.) If you would like it to be more medium-well, allow the internal temperature to get to 145 F.
- Take out of oven and allow to "rest" in on pan for 15-20 minutes, covering with a sheet of foil.
- Serve with your favorite side dishes and enjoy!
Red Wine Marinated Smoked Tri Tip
- Take your tri tip and put in large and shallow baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, take 1/3 cup worcestershire sauce. Add:
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 TBSP of Rosemary, fresh
- 1/4 cup Shallot
- Add 1 TBSP olive oil to mixture.
- Add 1 cup red wine or cooking wine.
- Sprinkle meat with 1 TBSP salt
- and 1 TBSP pepper.
- Then pour the marinate over the tri tip. Cover and let stand in fridge for 4-6 hours. You can stir and reapply the sauce over the meat every hour or few hours.
- Turn the grill on low and make a tray out of tin foil to lay the meat on. Add meat and sauce to grill and slow cook for 1-2 hours, rotating on foil as needed.
- For last 5 minutes, turn grill to medium high and remove the foil. Sear the outside of the tri tip on all sides to get a wonderful crust. Enjoy!
